The bowery is the oldest throughfare on Manhattan Island and it connected farmlands and estates on the outskirts to the heart of the city.  This throughfare later became the center stage for developments in the heart of the city and as the city grew the street gained in elegance, becoming a broad boulevard with wealthy and famous people residing in the area. The area took a dive after the civil war, but was revived after with several luxury developments. Notable places of interest in the Bowery historic district include several culture curious places, including the Amato Opera, Bowery Ballroom, Bowery Savings Bank, Bowery Poetry Club, Bowery Theatre and many more. It comes with no surprise that we are enchanted with the vibrant burrow that is Manhattan. The word bowery for us is a bold statement and in our minds it means “to build”.
